Empowering Refugees Through Protection, Education, and Opportunity
RAWI EA is committed to supporting refugees and displaced communities by creating pathways to safety, dignity, and self-reliance. Through education, livelihood programs, psychosocial support, and community engagement, we help individuals and families rebuild their lives while fostering resilient and inclusive communities across East Africa.
Community-Led Solutions
Every program is developed in collaboration with refugee communities, ensuring sustainable impact, local ownership, and meaningful opportunities for individuals and families to succeed.
Our Impact
Since our founding, RAWI-EA has worked alongside governments, civil society organisations, and refugee communities to advance meaningful legal reform across the East Africa region. With 26+ partners spanning Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ethiopia, our coalition model ensures that advocacy is coordinated, evidence-led, and grounded in lived experience.
"When refugees can work, they don't just support themselves — they strengthen the economies and communities that host them."
From policy briefs that have informed national legislation to training programmes that have equipped hundreds of advocates, our work creates ripple effects that outlast any single project. Across 360+ projects completed to date, we measure success not just in outputs, but in the shifting of legal norms and institutional attitudes toward refugee economic inclusion.
With $10.5Kraised mobilised for regional advocacy, we continue to expand our reach — building the evidence base, convening stakeholders, and holding governments accountable to their commitments under international refugee law.
